Big Data Engineer
We're looking for a strong Data Engineer to help us build a highly distributed data ETL/ELT systems from the ground up. You will join a small but growing team that provides data, frameworks, and algorithms to the company at large.
You will be responsible for the definition and implementation of data pipelines, drawing on a range of Big Data technologies to support workflows with varying demands on throughput and latency. You'll need to contribute to the entire stack, working with DevOps on maintenance and tuning and Data Scientists on applications and algorithms. You will be expected to deliver clean and scalable code on an aggressive schedule.
Your code will inform the daily actions of hundreds of people across the company, from technicians in the field to engineers at headquarters.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years' experience in designing, developing, implementing and testing of data ingestion and integration pipelines
  • Data warehouse design & dimensional modeling principles.
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Understanding of OLTP and OLAP concepts (including OLAP Cubes)
  • Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, Hive and fast data technologies like Spark.
  • Proven ability to architect and implement high-throughput data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Scala, Java or Python.
  • Basic abilities in DevOps.
  • Excellent communication and drive.
  • Fluent English
Plus:
  • Working knowledge of MQTT.
  • Experience optimizing HBase or Cassandra.
  • Experience with data preparation for analytic reporting platforms like Tableau, PowerBI, QlikView, etc.
